Sherif Elkholy is Partner and Regional Head for the Middle East and North Africa at global private equity firm Actis which manages over 8 billion dollars of assets across the emerging markets.
He joined the firm in 2004 and has since led and executed, managed and exited landmark investments in several sectors and countries including Université Centrale Groupe (Tunisia), Mundiapolis University (Morocco), Ecole Marocaine des Sciences de l’Ingénieuris (Morocco), Edita Food Industries (Egypt), Mo’men Group for Foods (Egypt), El-Rashidi El-Mizan (Egypt), Lekela Egypt for Renewable Wind Power (Egypt) and Djezzy (Algeria).
Prior to joining Actis, he worked at HSBC and prior to that at EFG-Hermes Private Equity. Elkholy holds a Ph.D. in Economics and an MSc in Finance and Economic Development (with Distinction), both from the University of London and a BA in Economics from the American University in Cairo.
Elkholy is also Co-Chairman of the Investment Committee at the American Chamber of Commerce in Egypt and he sits on the board of directors of several leading companies in Egypt and the Middle East and has also provided part-time advise as a consultant to the Egyptian Cabinet’s Information and Decision Support Center where he is a published author.
