Sipho is a Zambian entrepreneur and a banker by profession with extensive Corporate Finance, Transaction Advisory and Corporate Turnaround experience. Having left the consulting and finance world in 2006 to pursue his own business interests utilising his skills in both Corporate Finance and Banking to establish specialised Property Development companies including a Hydroelectricity Generation project and a recent Grid Solar pv project.

Sipho has a wide range of business interests including the development of a 80 MW run of river Hydroelectricity Power Station on the Zambezi River in Western Province of Zambia, a private cemetery and various property development interests, both residential and commercial as well as IT interests, being part of the development of Zambia’s first Tier 3 multi-tenant data centre. Sipho has recently commenced with the establishment of a solar PV power generation project with international partners

Sipho has had extensive banking experience in Corporate Banking at both the operational and senior management level. His corporate banking experience has been obtained as a result of having worked for various financial institutions in Europe, Asia and Africa. Sipho has an in-depth understanding of risk analysis and the factors that drive businesses at both a micro and macro level. He has been involved in structuring large loan packages for private sector corporates and financial institutions and has worked closely with large bilateral and multilateral financial institutions such as the Development Bank of Southern Africa, the European Investment Bank, PROPARCO, CDC, International Finance Corporation and the World Bank.

Sipho was the joint Managing Director of one of Zambia’s largest professional services and accounting firms from 1999 to 2006 and specialised in Corporate Finance. Sipho established DCDM as a premier advisory firm in Zambia specialising in arranging funding for large and medium scale enterprises across multiple sectors and sourced funding from multiple jurisdictions. DCDM also specialised in Corporate Recovery and Insolvency and Sipho developed an in-depth understanding of how and why businesses fail.

Sipho, along with his brother, has formed the DARP Foundation, in honour of their late father David Phiri, to promote education and sports for underprivileged Zambians and works with the Zambia Society Trust, a registered UK Charity, to help vulnerable Zambians across the country. Sipho has been the Vice Chairman of the American International School of Lusaka board for 14 years. In the past Sipho also sat on Zambia’s Human Rights Commission focussing on minority rights.

Sipho is currently the Honorary Consul for the Kingdom of Denmark
